Tempered Glass Replacement

Express Glass provides tempered glass replacement for shattered sliding door glass, damaged French door panes and suitable existing window systems across South and Southwest Florida. Broken tempered glass cannot be patched or restored with crack filler: the damaged pane must be replaced. We assess the frame and opening, verify dimensions and safety-glass specifications, and discuss compatible replacement glazing. Call from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Naples or our other coverage cities for a free estimate and local scheduling.

A clear starting point

Replace damaged tempered glass with suitable safety glazing.

Tempered glass is heat-treated safety glass, but not every door or window uses the same thickness, tint or glazing system. Tempered glass repair means replacing the damaged pane after checking the existing glass type, frame compatibility and installation details. It does not mean patching shattered glass, cutting an already tempered pane to fit or assuming tempered glass is equivalent to hurricane-impact glazing. We confirm the replacement specifications before arranging work.

01

Broken tempered glass in doors

We assess damaged glass in existing French doors, sliding glass doors and suitable commercial door systems. The correct replacement depends on the door, glazing details and condition of the frame. Door alignment or hardware repairs may be a separate part of the work.

02

Measurements and glass specifications

Pane dimensions, thickness, edge details, holes, cutouts and any visible markings help identify the required replacement. Measurements and specifications must be confirmed before fabrication. Tempered glass cannot be cut or drilled after tempering.

03

Compatibility before replacement

Tempered glass is not interchangeable with every laminated, impact or insulated glass product. We check what the existing system requires and explain suitable options. Replacing a pane with tempered glass alone does not make a standard door or window impact-rated.

Safe assessment

Keep clear of broken glass. Let us assess the opening.

Keep people and pets away from the damaged pane and avoid operating the affected door or window. Do not handle loose glass. Send photos from a safe distance, including the entire opening and any readable markings, and tell us your city. If the opening is exposed, call about suitable temporary board-up while replacement is arranged.

Understand your options

Why damaged tempered glass needs replacement.

What can stay, and what needs attention?

A sound frame or door may be retained when compatible replacement glazing can be fitted. We assess the opening and explain whether damaged hardware or frame components also need attention.

Cracked or shattered tempered glass must be replaced, not patched. Pane dimensions, thickness and any holes or cutouts must be confirmed before fabrication. Tempered glass cannot be cut or drilled after tempering, and it is not a substitute for an impact-rated glazing system.

What affects the cost?

Pane size, glass specifications, edge details, cutouts, access and frame condition affect the estimate. Share photos and your city; final measurements and compatibility must be verified before replacement is arranged.

Before you call about tempered glass replacement

Keep people and pets away from broken glass. Do not operate the affected door or window or try to remove loose shards. If the opening is exposed, call about suitable temporary board-up and safe access.

Good to know

Questions about tempered glass replacement?

Every opening is different. These answers explain what to look for before you call.

Can cracked or shattered tempered glass be repaired?

No. Damaged tempered glass needs replacement. A patch does not restore the pane's original safety performance. We assess the opening and confirm compatible replacement glazing.

Can you replace tempered glass in a French door or sliding glass door?

We assess glass replacement in suitable existing French doors, sliding glass doors and commercial door systems. The glazing specifications and frame condition determine the right next step. Frame, hinge, roller or lock work is not automatically included in pane replacement.

How can I tell whether my glass is tempered?

A visible manufacturer or safety marking may help identify the glass, but not every marking is easy to see. Share a photo if you can do so safely. Do not touch or break glass to identify it; the existing glazing and replacement requirements need assessment.

Is tempered glass the same as impact glass?

No. Tempered glass, laminated glass and impact-rated glazing systems have different properties and requirements. Tempered glass alone is not a hurricane protection upgrade. We check compatibility with the existing door or window before recommending replacement.

How much does tempered glass replacement cost?

Glass size, thickness, edge details, cutouts, frame condition and access affect the estimate. Share photos, approximate dimensions and your city for a free estimate. Final measurements and specifications must be verified before work is arranged.

How soon can my tempered glass be replaced?

Timing depends on the required pane, fabrication, local availability and safe access. Call to confirm the expected schedule for your opening. Emergency glass repair and temporary board-up may be discussed separately; an urgent call is not a guarantee of immediate pane replacement.

What information helps you estimate tempered glass replacement?

Send a clear photo of the complete opening, a closer photo of the damage or operating problem, your service address and approximate dimensions if they can be obtained safely. For tempered glass replacement, photos help identify the next assessment, but do not replace final measurements or confirm the glass specification. Do not handle broken glass or move a heavy panel to take pictures. Call for urgent exposed or unsafe openings.
