Glass Railing Installation

Express Glass helps Florida homeowners, condominium owners and businesses plan glass railing installation for balconies, terraces and interior or exterior stairs. Every project starts with an assessment of the surface the railing will attach to, the glass and hardware being considered and any permit, HOA or engineering review that may apply. Specifications and scheduling are confirmed for your property before installation is arranged.

Specifications confirmed first

Glass, hardware and anchorage are reviewed for your project before scheduling.

A family business

Serving Florida families and businesses since 2007.

A clear starting point

A glass railing starts with what it attaches to.

Glass railings open up a view, but they also serve as a guard at an edge. Before recommending a system, we look at the balcony slab, terrace deck or stair structure, the edge condition and how the railing could be anchored. We then discuss glass make-up, base shoe, post or standoff hardware and finish options. Tempered glass alone is not universally sufficient for every railing; the glass, hardware and anchorage must be confirmed together for the specific project, and some projects need a permit, condominium or HOA approval or engineering review before work can begin.

01

Substrate and anchorage assessment

Concrete slabs, wood or composite decks and stair stringers each anchor differently. We review the surface condition, edge distance and any existing railing attachments before a mounting approach is proposed for your balcony, terrace or stairs.

02

Glass and hardware selection

Glass type and thickness, laminated or tempered make-up, base shoe or post systems, top caps and finishes are selected for the project. Each safety specification is confirmed for the specific installation rather than assumed from a catalog.

03

Permit, HOA and engineering review

Depending on the property and location, a railing may need a building permit, condominium or HOA approval, or engineering review. We discuss what may apply early so the project plan accounts for it.

Key Largo project

Glass railings at a Key Largo waterfront property.

These owner-supplied photos show our Key Largo glass railing job beside a raised swimming pool, spa and outdoor stairs. Clear panels retain views toward the water while following the pool terrace and stair edges. For a South Florida balcony or terrace, discuss exterior-change approval and access with your condominium association. For glass railing installation in Naples or Marco Island, tell us whether the site faces open water and how crews can reach the installation area. For Bonita Springs, Fort Myers and Cape Coral projects, send photos of the deck, terrace or stair and the existing attachment surfaces. Salt exposure, hardware finishes, balcony drainage and weather-dependent access all belong in the project assessment. Glass and anchorage specifications must be confirmed for each property; the photos do not establish specifications or code compliance for another installation.

Understand your options

Confirm the surface, anchorage and specifications before installation.

What can stay, and what needs attention?

An existing balcony, terrace or stair may be a candidate for glass railings, but the substrate, edge condition and available anchorage must be assessed for the specific project. Existing posts, base shoes or fasteners cannot be assumed reusable.

A glass railing is a guard system, not just a decorative panel. Tempered glass alone is not universally sufficient; the glass make-up, hardware, anchorage and any required permit, HOA or engineering review must be confirmed together for the project.

What affects the cost?

Run length, number of sections, stair or balcony configuration, glass and hardware selections, removal of an existing railing, site access and any required approvals affect the estimate. Send photos and your city; final scope and scheduling follow assessment.

Call for a free estimate for your opening rather than relying on a generic online price.

Before you call about glass railing installation

Photograph the full balcony, terrace or stair from several angles, note approximate lengths and gather any HOA or condominium association requirements you already have. Do not remove an existing railing before a replacement plan is confirmed.

If an existing glazed opening has a broken safety-glass pane, start with a replacement assessment. Tempered glass replacement.

Good to know

Questions about glass railing installation?

Every opening is different. These answers explain what to look for before you call.

What photos should I send for a glass railing installation estimate?

Send photos of the full balcony, terrace, deck or stair, the edge and attachment surface, and any existing railing. Include your city, approximate run lengths if safely available, and any condominium or HOA requirements. Do not remove an existing guard or lean over an unprotected edge to take photos; final measurements and safety specifications are confirmed on site.

Where can glass railings be installed?

Glass railings are commonly considered for balconies, terraces, decks and stairs, both inside and outside. Suitability depends on the structure the railing attaches to, which we assess for each project.

Is tempered glass enough for a glass railing?

Not universally. Depending on the system and location, laminated or other glass make-ups may be required. The glass, hardware and anchorage specifications all need confirmation for your specific project.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval for a glass railing?

Some projects do. Permit, condominium association, HOA or engineering review requirements vary by property and jurisdiction. We discuss what may apply during the assessment so you can plan for it.

Can you replace my existing balcony railing with glass?

Often an existing railing can be evaluated for replacement, but the slab or deck edge, existing anchor locations and the condition of the substrate determine what is possible. Existing attachments are not assumed reusable.

Can glass railings be installed on stairs?

Stair railings can be planned with glass panels, but the stair structure, angle, handrail needs and mounting surface affect the design. These details are confirmed on site.

Can I see local glass railing installation projects?

Yes. This page includes our job photos from Key Largo, Boca Raton and North Miami, each labeled with its actual city. They show poolside and waterfront railings, terrace corners and raised patio installations. Open any gallery photo to see the original full-resolution image. The systems shown are examples of our local work, not a substitute for confirming glass, anchorage and permit requirements at your property.

Do you install glass railings in Naples, Marco Island and Bonita Springs?

We discuss glass railing installation across Southwest Florida, including Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers and Cape Coral, as service areas. Call to confirm coverage and scheduling for your address.

How much does glass railing installation cost, and how long does it take?

Cost and timing depend on run length, stair or balcony configuration, glass and hardware selections, removal of an existing railing, access and any required approvals. We provide a free estimate and discuss expected timing after assessment rather than promising a date in advance.
